Responsibilities Responsibilities: + Maintain a positive work environment where at risk and disadvantaged individuals can come to address their needs + Assist clients expeditiously with courtesy, understanding and empathy + Receipt and document donations received + Attend staff meetings and community events as needed + Maintain an organized, professional work environment + Develops and fosters local relationships with other service/ healthcare/ educational/ municipal entities to ensure effective local support and referral sources. + Act as a liaison and/or coordinator between agency/business resources as it relates to financial or other client need + Responsible for administration of: + Pathway of Hope Program + Recycling Furniture of Families Referrals within McLean County. + Warm Neighbors Cool Friends and Nicor Share Program within McLean County and outlying communities + Comprehensive Emergency Assistance Program + Provides referrals for participant to needed services through other providers as needed + Conduct client intakes and assess the level of need; completing all appropriate assessments and paperwork, gathering documentation + Determine client eligibility for various programs/referral systems and provide assistance within program parameters + Schedules regular meetings with clients to set goals and track progress + Establishes client driven service plan and updates the plan regularly, at a minimum of on a quarterly basis + Maintains client case files, including intake, service plan, identity documentation, case notes, discharge, and follow-up + Responsible for development of curriculum for mentors within the Pathway of Hope program, which will provide onsite life-skills trainings (financial, spiritual, nutrition, domestic science, etc.) to clients. + Maintain and submit monthly statistics as required for The Salvation Army and other grants received + Participate in renewal of all contract and funding plan requests + Supervises, trains, and provides guidance and support to mentors, interns, student and community volunteers . + Collects, compiles and reports statistical data to the Office Manager and Social Service Director. + Collaborates with university faculty. Reviews interns and student course plans and provides instructions according to the course curriculum. + Promote an "all hands on deck" approach to teamwork in the office; assisting where needed + In collaboration with the Social Services Director, develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Emergency Assistance and Pathway of Hope programs + Other duties as assigned by the Social Service Director Qualifications Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in social work or related field from a 4 year college or university. Experience: Individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to articulate and use professional knowledge and skills in the context of The Salvation Army; ability to relate with warmth, understanding, acceptance and empathy; must have accurate clerical and computer abilities; must possess sound judgment and excellent decision making skills; possess the ability to work independently with little supervision or in a team environment; possess a positive attitude in working with high risk clients, volunteers and donors and maintain confidentiality. Individual must be dependable, honest and trustworthy. Individual must be able to pass criminal background and must have valid drivers license with the ability to obtain clearance through The Salvation Armys insurance carrier. Individual must be willing to become familiar with and support the mission of The Salvation Army Physical Demands/ Work Environment: This position is required to do light to moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to remain stationary for some periods of time, use hands and fingers, communicate, move, occasionally required to position self to stoop, kneel or crouch, frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands as required in using standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
