Job Description Shift Supervisor - Decatur, ILADM Decatur Corn PlantThis is a full-time, exempt position.Job Summary: We are looking for the right person to oversee and lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations for their assigned shift in the Decatur, IL Corn Plant. The Shift Supervisor will lead all aspects of employees who operate and tend control stations or areas in an automated or semi-automated processing operation. This position may initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions such as performance, scheduling, and/or approving overtime. You will report to the Shift Superintendent.Essential Job Functions: Focused on personnel safety, quality, and product safetyLead plant operations to maintain personnel and process safetyManage plant operations to ensure in spec final product qualityEstimate personnel needsAssign work and establish expectations for completionProvide training and development for direct staffInterpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policiesJob Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience5-8 years' experience in related position with 3 being in direct supervision of people is preferredStrong dedication to safetyStrong interpersonal skills and ability to plan priorities effectivelyStrong communication skills (verbal and written) for coordination, training, and reportingWorking Conditions:
DustChemicals / IrritantsThe scope of the position requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not accurately followedInside areas:Spring / Summer: Temperatures in some areas of the facility will be up to or exceed 100 degreesFall / Winter: Temperatures in the facility may be at or below freezingSome manufacturing processes within the facility are highly reliant on machinery and other processing equipment and, as a result, noise levels may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shiftOutside areas:Spring / Summer: Outside temperature may be up to or exceed 100 degrees with potential for high humidity; may be exposed to inclement weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain and windFall / Winter: Outside temperatures may reach freezing or below; may be exposed to inclement weather including, freezing rain, sleet, snow, and windPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to thirty (30) pounds on a frequent basis, up to fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basisLifting or carrying of weights over fifty (50) pounds is rare; employees are encouraged to request assistance with objects that weigh more than fifty (50) pounds!Ability to traverse up to two (2) miles dailyAbility to move about or to a work site by stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently during the course of a work day; may require periods of prolonged sitting or standingAbility to operate equipment or diagnose/detect issues of machinery located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding, or other work at heightsFull range of physical motion is required in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heightsExcited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
