growth, we are seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to join
our team in Bloomington, IL. In this position you will play a key
role providing support for medical staff, scheduling patient
appointments, verifying insurance benefits, and assisting patients

Audit patient demographic data and take appropriate action to
obtain missing data.
Assist families with Medicaid applications and address other
questions that relate to financial arrangements. Perform a Medi
look up to check if patient has Medicaid and enter if appropriate
in electronic medical record.
Conduct on-site eligibility and enrollment assistance activities
Conduct patient interviews in person (or by phone in advance if
possible for scheduled patients) for the purposes of completing
demographic, scheduling initial appointment, financial and other
information needed for billing. Enter all information obtained into
electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
Appropriately evaluate and prioritize scheduling of appointment
based on patient needs, and if appropriate forward to nurse for
Evaluate all fund sources available and eligible, determine fund
source priority and enter all appropriate information into
electronic medical record timely and accurately. Follow up with
patient to complete any missing information that is required to
complete the intake and update electronic medical record as
Thoroughly explain, complete, and obtain all required signatures
from patients (or responsible parties) pertaining to the Consent to
Treat and Payment Responsibility forms.
Complete required paperwork on each patient in accordance with
program and agency policies and procedures.
Scan documentation into the electronic medical record for the
financial record including but not limited to signed payment
authorization (original); copy of the insurance card (both sides);
and the completed financial assistance application.
Process and complete internal and external requests for health
Be knowledgeable of and sensitive to individual's cultural beliefs
As needed, fill in for and back up to CFHC Medical Assistants. This
includes rooming patients, performing phlebotomy services, and
performing point of care testing.
Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, QI meetings, etc., as
needed and be able to apply knowledge gained.
Participate in staff development/in-service programs and be able to
apply knowledge gained.
Maintain CPR and CPI and/or CMA and/or CNA and/or CMOA
Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence through
the adherence to Chestnut's behavioral standards for customer
Maintain and protect confidentiality and security of all
organizational information gained in the course of performing job

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program or
Certified Nursing Assistant training program required.
Must have a current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
certification, Certified Medical Office Administrative Assistant
(CMOA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Must complete Certified Application Counselor (CAC) training and
successfully obtain certification within six (6) months of
Intermediate computer skills and experience using MS Word, MS
Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and an electronic medical record
Strong keyboarding skills to include data entry into a variety of
Extensive knowledge of common medical and medical office procedures
and use of office equipment required (i.e., filing, ability to
operate copier, fax and scanning equipment).
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in
writing and to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with patients, referral sources, staff, vendors and

Must be able to work independently and manage several tasks at one
