years License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS required; ACLS
preferred; CCRN a plus Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of
cardiovascular intensive care unit experience. - Ability to work
independently and manage critical patients immediately. - Strong
assessment skills, critical thinking, and communication abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. -
Ability to interpret cardiac strips. - Experience with various
titratable medications. Description: The unit has 20 private
monitored beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary from 1:1 to 2:1,
depending on patient acuity. Common patient populations include
post-open heart surgical patients and various cardiovascular
conditions. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS, with a
preference for CCRN. Intervention equipment includes IABPs,
Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, and external pacemakers.
Common lines used are PICC, midlines, central venous catheters, and
arterial lines. RNs are required to titrate multiple medications,
including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, and others. Charge nurses
and house supervisors are present 24/7, with charge nurses
occasionally taking on assignments. Patient care technicians assist
with ratios running from 1:12 to 1:15, subject to staffing.
Intensivists and advanced practice providers are usually in-house.
Respiratory therapists are available 24/7, and RNs are responsible
for troubleshooting respiratory equipment. All patients are
monitored using a specific brand of Philips monitoring system. RNs
are expected to read and interpret their own cardiac strips. Shifts
are 12 hours, with no self-scheduling. Weekend shifts are required
every other weekend. All staff are expected to float to different
levels of care when necessary. Scrubs must be appropriate in
appearance, though there is no specific color requirement. The unit
requires proficiency in various cardiovascular ICU components,
including the use of temporary pacemakers and titration of multiple
drips. Cancellation policy allows for client cancellations up to 12
hours every 13 weeks. Charting is performed using a recognized
