Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a
qualified Neuro RN in Peoria, Illinois, 61637! Job Title:
Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Neuro
Med-Surg Acute Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per
Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required
License: Active Illinois license required or confirmation of the
application process Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have
level 1 trauma experience. Must have previous travel experience. No
first-time travelers. Must have prior experience working on a
dedicated neuro unit. Must have heparin drip experience.
Description: The unit has 54 beds, including 2 semi-private rooms.
The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day shift and
1:5-6 during the night shift. Common diagnoses include stroke,
spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, and other
neuroscience conditions. There is a charge nurse present 24/7 who
does not take an assignment unless staffing is short. A house
supervisor is also available 24/7. Patient care techs are available
with a ratio of 1:9-10 during the day and evening shifts, and
1:10-12 during the night shift. Nurses are required to troubleshoot
respiratory equipment only for stable patients. Telemetry is
monitored house-wide, and nurses are not required to read strips.
Nurses typically work a set schedule of 3 shifts per week, which
includes every other weekend and alternating holidays. Floating to
other general units may occur, but nurses will only perform skills
they are competent in. Nurses should wear scrubs that are not
specified in color but must keep tattoos covered while on duty.
