Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography. Certifications:
BLS, Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must-Have: Certified Nerve
Conduction Technologist (CNCT) or Registered in Computed Tomography
(CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Description: Positions patients correctly, using proper
immobilization techniques. Performs optimal scans using correct
technical factors, shielding and protocols based on patient
diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information. Uses
correct technical factors in accordance with the American College
of Radiology (ACR) to minimize radiation exposure while obtaining
diagnostic scans. Performs CT angiography, 3D imaging, MIPS, VR,
Vessel Analysis, and MPRs. Post-processes computer data to enhance
exams for radiologist interpretation using appropriate
reconstruction software. Follows CT Department Technologist
workflow which includes selecting the correct scan room,
identifying and documenting two forms of patient identification,
acquiring history, verifying orders, and scanning the patient.
Sends images to PACS and scans all paperwork and data sheets such
as history and medication reconciliation sheets. Completes case
documentation in the system and addresses quality assurance issues.
Charges for contrast media and supplies as applicable. Verifies
that all images, series, and data sheets are sent to PACS and
ensures the accuracy of image counts. Confirms exams with images
and archives images on the scanner. Operates support equipment for
CT, including independent workstations and pressure injectors.
Initiates IVs for contrast media administration in accordance with
departmental policies and using standard precautions. Prepares
patients for exams by explaining the procedure and encouraging
questions. Transports patients to and from departments when
necessary and assists in patient transfers on and off the CT table.
Continually monitors patient condition during CT procedures.
Collaborates with radiologists to tailor protocols to meet patient
exam requirements. Refers difficult complaints or sensitive issues
to management. Documents and charges for supplies used during exams
or procedures. Records confidential patient history to ensure exam
and contrast media appropriateness. Logs patient charge data,
modifying and initiating charges as procedure modifications occur.
Documents any allergic reactions, IV extravasations, or unusual
occurrences and initiates incident reports when needed. Maintains
licensure and continuing education, and ensures proper patient
screening prior to administering contrast media. Consults with
providers as needed to confirm the correct exams are being
conducted.
