Job Description:
The Critical Care Transport team educator is a member of the
Carle Foundation Hospital flight and ground transport teams.
Performs duties of active crew member as needed. This position
assumes the additional role of clinical educator. Responsible for
collaboration in the development, implementation, and oversight of
all initial and recurrent continuing education for medical crew
members to achieve and maintain required competencies; Coordinates
activities to achieve and maintain accreditation; Coordinates
research; Participates in the development and implementation of
Quality Management programs; Supervises new hire crewmembers during
the orientation process in collaboration with the program
administration. Attention to budget components of the transport
education programs as well as staffing is expected. This position
will require positive interpersonal skills with the transport team,
Carle Hospital employees, EMS representatives and leadership, and
line staff of regional hospitals. This position will require a
self-motivated, dependable and contentious individual who can
function in a constantly changing environment.
- Maintains and monitors medical crew licensure, certifications,
clinical requirements, OSHA training and testing, and advanced
procedures
- Develops Transport Team Education Plan
- Assists in the identification and revision of all continuing
education requirements to maintain compliance with all accrediting,
regulating and credentialing agencies.
- Assists in CAMTS compliance for all medical education
requirements.
- Participates in the interviewing of medical transport crew
candidates and provides input for hiring decisions.
- Responsible for the coordination of new employee orientation.
Reviews and revises orientation plan on an annual basis.
- Works collaboratively with teams for oversight of new
employees' clinical preceptor ship.
- Assists with new base start-ups to include hiring and
orientation of medical crew members.
- Assists MD and Operations Director assessing educational
requirements (didactic, clinical competence, certifications)
- Assist with METI training.
- Coordinates initial and annual competency training, protocol
testing, for new medical equipment and/or procedures.
- Maintains or modifies, as needed, monitoring systems for
continuing education compliance.
- Assures implementation of corrective action plans with MD.
- Collaborates with base supervisor to complete employee
evaluations
- Assists Medical Director in developing and revising medical
policy. Initiates and implements development and revision of
established policies.
- Participates in Quality Assurance and Improvement through
systematic problem identification, and collaborates with the
Medical Director to correct deficiencies and to evaluate
implemented change. Assists with chart review and QA/QI data
collection as assigned. Assures integration of performance and
identified QA deficiencies in training/education
- Maintains all requirements and fulfills all essential functions
of a flight and ground transport crewmember.
- Serves as a role model for provision of advanced level medical
care.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues,
EMS representatives, hospitals and the public while executing
strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at
all levels
- Demonstrates high critical thinking and reasoning skills and
strong attention to detail while working in a fast paced
environment that requires ability to prioritize and
multi-task.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including 24 hour shifts,
overtime, and an on-call rotation
- Collaborates to maintain mutual resources for education
available to crew.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or
changed at any time at the discretion of management.
- Maintain CAMTS accreditation
