Overview

• POSITION SUMMARY:The Medical Director of Hospital Medicine is responsible for communicating, implementing, and directing the clinical and operational objectives of OSF hospital medicine. Through strong working relationships with physicians, clinical and administrative leaders, ensures the delivery of standardized quality care delivery and efficient operations in the assigned site(s). Serves as a visionary leader and role model of the OSF Leader Core Competencies. Supports the OSF vision and Key Results. Leads positive culture and execution of strategy within the assigned site(s). Supports change management and continuous improvement and productive team dynamic. Reports directly to the facility Chief Medical Officer. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:Supervises physicians and advanced practice providers in the assigned site(s). Evaluates each provider at least semi-annually, rounds monthly at a minimum. Provides feedback, mentorship, and positive discipline as needed to correct deficiencies. Management of group/individual clinical documentation performance.Responsible for the operational and clinical performance of assigned site(s) including 5 star qualityMortalityPatient ExperienceReadmissionSafety of CareTimely & Effective CareAttends and actively participates in Service Line Care Guidance Councils, entity administrative and quality councils, and ongoing leadership development. Accountable to engage the care team on care standards and evidence-based medical best practices.Reviews safety, operational and financial integrity metrics and develops improvement plans based on performance gaps. Available to provide peer review expertise for Facility/Service Line.Educates and socializes the tools and dashboards to optimize visibility and performance.Participates in interdisciplinary rounding and serves as a mentor and resource to providers to manage team morale and support mission partner well-being and culture. Responsible for ensuring the group provides superior patient experience. Actively reviews patient satisfaction results for physicians and is knowledgeable of methods and tactics to achieve excellent results. Educates, coaches, and leads others in how to achieve outstanding results.Responsible for bidirectional communication through monthly department meetings which includes: organizational initiatives, performance, clinical issues, quality metrics, risks and barriers. Assists with hospital accreditation and certification requirements.Serves on the Adult Hospitalist Service as needs and availability dictate. Responsible for oversight and ensuring coverage of the schedule at assigned sites. Participates in provider recruiting activities and on-boarding initiatives to efficiently.Promptly reports all potential risk management issues to the CMO and/or appropriate parties. Communicates and promotes adherence to policies regarding corporate compliance, coding, documentation, and timely completion of records.

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Doctorate Licenses/Certifications: Physician Licensed to practice medicine in current state.
  • Board certified or board eligible in the appropriate specialty (ies).
  • Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges.
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs.
  • Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
