Employer and the Ames School of Art invitesapplications for the position of Assistant Professor of GraphicDesign. This tenure-track position is a nine-month appointmentbeginning August 1, 2019. Salary commensurate with qualificationsand experience. We are seeking an individual with potential toprovide leadership and excellence in graphic design theory andpractice. The successful candidate will teach all levels of graphicdesign with expertise in typography and two or more of thefollowing areas: image-making, identity design, information design,motion, web design, mobile app development, video. Candidatesshould demonstrate the ability to inspire students conceptually andtechnologically. The Ames School of Art, one of four professional schools, offersthe BFA, BA, and minors in Graphic Design, Art, and Art History.The School of Art boasts two galleries, a new Macintosh computerlab, and outstanding facilities for drawing, painting, printmaking,photography, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, and glass. Founded in 1850, Illinois Wesleyan is a highly selective,private undergraduate liberal arts university with a tradition ofteaching excellence. Minimum Qualifications: MFA in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or equivalentterminal degree in closely related field Demonstrable skills inoral and written communications Preferred QualificationsCollege-level teaching experience Demonstrated excellence inteaching Evidence of creative/scholarly activity Experience incurriculum development and implementation Responsibilities Teach six courses annually as assigned by the Director andconsistent with expertise. Oversee and mentor students in designinternships. Applicants will be expected to engage in scholarlyactivities, provide academic advising to students, and participatein department, college, and university service.
